What is Anxiety?

Anxiety can be a subjective feeling of fear or concern that brings uneasiness, worry, displeasure or stress to a person.

It can be a psychological or physiological state that can affect the behaviour, emotions and cognitive processes.

It is your typical reaction when facing stressors, however, when it becomes overwhelming and starts to be uncontrollable, verging on paranoia, it becomes an anxiety disorder

What are Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety disorders are a group of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear. There are a number of anxiety disorders:

Generalized anxiety disorder

Specific phobia, agoraphobia and social phobia

  • Social anxiety disorder
  • Separation anxiety disorder

Panic disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
